Diald 0.16: See http://www.dna.lth.se/~erics/diald.html for more information.; There are patches to make diald work better with dynamic IP addresses. Since I have a static IP address, I am happy without the patches.
IP Masquerade (ipfwadm 2.3.0),: See http://www.indyramp.com/masq/ for more information.
DNS (bind-4.9.5-P1): See http://www.isc.org/bind.html for more information.; If you are setting up a new system, you should probably be using BIND-8.
Sendmail 8.8.7: See http://www.sendmail.org/ for more information.; One should try to keep up to date with sendmail releases, to take advantage of security improvements and, lately, spam repulsion features.
Fetchmail: See http://locke.ccil.org/~esr/fetchmail/ for more information.; Fetchmail gets mail from one or more POP servers, and distributes the mail using your local Mail Transfer Agent (sendmail, smail, etc.). Although it is not recommended, fetchmail, procmail, and a collection of shell scripts can do a fair job of distributing everyone's email.
Procmail 3.10: See http://www.ling.helsinki.fi/~reriksso/procmail/links.html for more information.; Procmail is the 'standard' mail delivery agent for Slackware these days.
Qpopper 2.4: See http://www.eudora.com/freeware/servers.html for more information.; This seems to be a better POP server than the one included with my Slackware distribution.
Xringd: See http://sunsite.unc.edu/pub/Linux/system/network/daemons/.; Xringd allows me to 'wake up' the gateway machine from afar, so that it will connect to the ISP.
Samba 1.9.17p4: See http://samba.anu.edu.au/samba/ for more information.; Samba provides reliable file and device sharing between UNIX and PC systems.
